Building On The Plains Building permits issued by the Hauraki Plains County Council during June, amounted to £328 18s 6d, reported the county engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke, to Wednesday’s meeting of the council. i Politicians Privileged Among the gems of wisdom dropped at Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council was the remark by Cr. J. F. Mayn that: “Politicians have privileges with regards to morality.” O’Dwyet’s Road Crossing “A start has been made .on O’Dwyer’s road creek crossing, but the weather has not been good for this type of job,” reported the county engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke, to Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. Reconstruction of Road Reporting to the July meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council on the reconstruction of the NgateaTurua road the county engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke stated that the road had been scarified, shaped and rolled and was now being metalled. Four hun 7 dred and 75 cubic yards have so fax’ been spread, leaving 500 cubic yards still to be spread.
Ohinemuri County Council Present at the monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council, held on Wednesday in the Coronation Chambers, Paeroa were: Councillors W. Marshall (chairman), G. A. Avery, T. A. Barrett, J. J. Shallue, C. Christensen, R. W. Lowry, F. L. Franklin, T. Cotter, L. G. Leopold, with Mr A. A. Jenkinson (clerk), and L. E. Shaw (engineer). Plains County Council The , July meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council was held at Ngatea on Wednesday, the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, presiding. Others present were Messrs J. F.,Mayn, D. G. McMillan, W. H. Cheale; C. W. Schultz, F. Pinchess, A. H. Sutton, J. W. Neate, the county clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, and the county engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke. Leave of absence-was granted Mr W. E. Hale. Hauraki United Drainage The monthly meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board was held at Turua on Thursday, the chairman, Mr C. K. Fox, presiding. Others present were Messrs D. G. McMillan, Roy Green, R. E. Tye, R. B. Madgwick, C. W. Schultz and the clerk, Mr J. E. Green. Leave of absence was granted Mr E. B. Hill.
