£9862/9/- FROM COROMANDEL KENNEDY’S BAY AND COLVILLE When the/ Third Liberty Loan closed in Coromandel it was found that the district had. subscribed. a grand total of £9862 9s Od. List money was subscribed as under 1 :— Coromandel. — Savings accounts; £7165 7s Od; bonds, £498; stock, £1545; total, £9258 7s Od; number of investors, 179. Colville.—£3s2, £45, £2OO, £597, 20. Kennedy’s Bay.—£7 2s Od, —, £5O, £7 2s, 3. T0ta1.—£7524 9s 0d; £543, £1795, £9862 9s, 202. > ' On a population basis, the amount subscribed represents nearly £lO per head. The target for the district was £21,000 and, therefore, the amount raised was 47% of that sum. i No means were available to ascertain the amount subscribed by Coromandel residents who arranged investments outside the district. £6669 INVESTED MERCURY BAY SUBSCRIPTIONS I There was a fair attendance at the meeting in the Public Hall, Whitianga, on Thursday, July 9, in connection 1 with the combined district’s contribution to the Third Liberty Loan. Members of the Thames War Loan Committee who travelled to Whitianga and surrounding district were Mr.
Ensor, Mayoi* of Thames; Mr Currie,. N.S.W. Bank manager; Mr McGiven.. manager Bank of New Zealand; Mr Eames, town clerk; Mr Leo White,, of White and Sons, and Mr J." W. Arbury. The combined district contribution to the Third Liberty Loan amounted to £6669 2s Bd. Of this amoiint Coroglen, contributed a splendid portion,, the amount of £l6OO being given in half-an-hour. In all Coroglen raised £2085. The target for the district was £9984. •
