ROADS ON THE PENINSULA
(To the Editor.) Sir,—In your issue of June 30 appeared a very interesting letter from Mr C. C. Rae, and as he has seen fit' to bring me into this controversy I have now no option but to contradict his statement. As I am not interested in his argument with Messrs Denize Bros, and taxi licences I would like to take this opportunity of expressing my opinion of the state of the roads in this district, as Mr Rae again. states that the roads generally are in better condition than ever before. ‘Can he explain why at the present moment there are several tons of cargo lying in the wharf shed, at Coromandel awaiting transport to this district which owing to the impassable and dangerous state of the road has had to remain there, and according to recent wharf regulations be liable to a charge for storage. Ido not ask anyone to accept my word for this statement but am quite sure that 10'0% of the ratepayers in this riding will confirm what I say.—l am, etc., H. M., HAWKES WOOD. Terei’enga, 7:7:43.
