DAIRY CATTLE CLOSE TO PROFIT SALE HELD AT WAIHOU The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report that at their Waihou stock sale held on Thursday, a small yarding of fat and boner cows met with steady: competition and sold at recent late rates. A good yarding of dairy cows came forward. Good quality cattle close' to profit sold well, but low conditioned and backward sorts were not in demand.
A light entry of pigs was penned, all classes selling well. I Quotations:— Cattle.—Fat Shorthorn and Friesian cows, £6 6s to £6 14s; fat Jersey heifers, £6 15s to £7 ss; fat Jersey cows, £4 7s to £5 9s; good boner cows, £4 to £5 Is; medium, £3 to £4; light, £2 to £3; 2-year Jersey heifers, r.w.b., £2 10s; empty 2-year Jersey heifers, £3 to £3 16s; potter bulls, £3 5s to £4 15s; young Jersey and Jersey cross cows close to profit, £lO to £l3; others, £8 10s to £9 10s; Jersey and Je> sey-cross heifers, close to profit, £ll to £l3 10s; others, £9 to £lO 15s. Pigs.—Medium baconers, to £4; heavy porkers, £3 to £3 ss; medium, £2 to £2 13s; large stores, to 375.
