Keen Harrier One member of the Paeroa Harrier Club’s team which visited Auckland last Saturday to compete in the Great Eastern Road Race started work at 2.35 a.m. on Saturday morning so as to be able to get away early to compete in the race. School Basketball On Thursday last two basketball teams from the Ngatea District High School journeyed to Paeroa and played matches with the Paeroa District High School. Both games were drawn the senior scores being 14 all and the junior 6 all. Paeroa Beat Te Aroha The Paeroa Rugby Union’s thirdgrade representative team playing on the Paeroa Domain last Saturday had little difficulty in defeating a Te Aroha team, the final score being 12 points to nil. Cups and Saucers 6/9 Each Plain white cups and saucers auctioned at the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd’s, sale in. Paeroa on Monday realised 6s 9d each. The successful bidder took the full 48 offered at this price. High Tide and Rainwater The high tide, combined with heavy rain at Kopu on Sunday caused minor flooding. One house was surrounded by water and the occupants had to use a bot to reach dry land.
