QUALITY LACKING

DAIRY COWS OFFERED AT SALE PRICES AT MORRINSVILLE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report that at their weekly stock sale held at Morrinsville on Friday there was a good yarding of sheep comprising mostly store lambs with a few odd pens of breeding ewes. Competition was keen throughout and a total clearance was effected at advanced prices. A smaller yarding of fat cows met with a keen demand, values being very firm. Boner cows were again freely competed for and realised firm rates.

The advertised entry of stationbred cattle from East Coast and Hawke’s Bay districts came forward in good order and altogether over 1380 store cattle were penned. There was a large and representative bench of buyers from all parts of the district, and a total clearance was effected at very satisfactory prices, young cattle especially being keenly sought after, while values for all female cattle showed an improvement. There was a. full yarding of dairy cattle, including the advertised herd. Quality was lacking in the majority of the offering and values generally were on a par with recent sales. There was a large yarding of all classes of pigs. A feature of the entry was the large number of good quality baconers for which the demand was keen. Porkers were also sought after, while breeding sows and store and weaner pigs sold well. Quotations: —
