COROMANDEL POHUTUKAWAS WARNING SENT TO COUNCIL At the June meeting of the Coromandel County Council the Department of Lands and Survey wrote warning the council that boat-builders were looking for pohutukawa trees and urging the council to take all

steps possible to prevent such treeson the Coromandel Peninsula beingdestroyed. ,

It was pointed’ out in the letter that while trees on private property could not be saved from cutting, that on noaccount should trees be cut on the roads or reserves. As the supply on private property was limited a substitute would eventually have to be found.

The public should be warned that the rangers were watching trees o» roads and reserves.
