CHURCH FAREWELL
PRESENTATIONS MADE I --- FUNCTION HELD IN PAEROA MR & MRS S. I. McINTYRfI On Thursday evening, June 11, the members of the Presbyterian Church together with their friends tendered a farewell social to Mr and Mrs Stewart (Tui) Mclntyre prior to their departure to take up residence in Cambridge. After the singing of the Doxology and the opening prayer, a series of competitions were engaged in followed by a vocal duet by Mrs Jack Stephenson and Mr Reg. Jutson. A reading by Mrs D. Murdoch was followed by a song by Miss Olive HolImshead. Other contributors to the pleasant evening were Miss Elva Davie (song), Mrs R. Catton (recitation). Rugby Union Tribute Mr T. H. Jamieson presided over the gathering and during the evening presented Mr Mclntyre on behalf of the congregation with an “envelope.” Miss Norma Roberts, on behalf of the Girls’ Senioi’ Bible Class presented Mrs Mclntyre with a framed handpainting. Several members of the Church Management Committee spoke of their regret at losing one of their members who had lent such splendid support to the work of the church. During the evening Mr D. G. McMillan arrived and spoke on 'behalf of the Paeroa Rugby Union. He carried greetings and a farewell message from His Worship the Mayor and councillors of the iPaeroa Borough Council. Mr McMillan was supported by Mr Geo. Masters and Mr W. Faber, members of the executive of the Paeroa Rugby Union. After a delicious supper the social was brought to a close.
