BRIDGE AFTERNOON
PATRIOTIC FUNDS AIDED SUCCESSFUL PAE it 0 A FUNCTION A very pleasant bridge afternoon which was held at the residence of Mrs G. A. Gamble, Wood street, Paeroa, last Thursday was attended by a large number of ladies. The hostesses who. organised the function, which was in aid of Patriotic Funds, were Mesdames G. A. Gamble, C. A. Blackwood and G. Bain. A delicious afternoon tea was dispensed after which Mrs Bain took the opportunity to thank one and all for attending and urged the ladies present to organise further little functions to swell the Patriotic Funds. The Mayoress, Mrs E. Edwards, then thanked the hostesses for the pleasant afternoon.
As the result of this function the 1943 All Purposes Appeal will benefit by the sum of £ll 10 s Od. Mesdames C. N. O’Neill and V. Boles carried off the prizes for bridge while Mrs R. Wilson won the competition which was held.
