FORTY YEARS AGO
STAR OF PAEROA LODGE ELECTION OF OFFICERS ' BRADFORD MEMORIAL BELT (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of June 14, 1903) At the meeting of the Star of Paeroa Lodge of Druids on Monday evening the following officers were elected for the ensuing half-year: Arch Druid, Bro. Niccol; Vice-arch, Bro. E. Shaw; secretary, Bro. Poland; -treasurer, Bro. Ott; Inside Guardian, Bro. Byrne; Outside Guardian, Bro. J. Grayden; Arch Bards, Bros-. W. Loughman and G. Reid; Vice-arch Bards, Bros. B. McGeehan and Cargill;’minute secretary, Bro. Beattie; auditor, Bro. .Searle. The installation is to take place in a fortnight’s time. On Saturday next the annual competition for the Bradford Memorial Belt will take place. The conditions are seven shots and two optional sighters at 300, 500 and 700' yards. Unusual interest is taken in this year’s contest as Mr J. Clarkin has donated a handsome lady’s bracelet in connection with the competition. Each competitor will ■nominate a lady, and the names will be drawn for by those shooting, the lady whose name is drawn by the winner, to receive the bracelet.
