VISITS TO THE SCHOOL

ADDRESS BY REV. A. H. VOYCE

SOLOMON ISLANDS & N. GUINEA

Visits to the primary and secondary departments of the Paeroa District. High School were paid on Wednesday morning by the Rev. A. H. Voyce, who for 16 years has been a Methodist missionary in the Bougain-ville-Buka group of the British Solomon Islands.

At the primary school Mr Voyce addressed the upper classes on the flora, fauna and geographical feat-/ ures of Bouganville, speaking also of certain native customs and exhibiting a number of curios.

At the High School he spoke to the pupils about New Guinea^ —its mineral wealth, agriculture, native language and customs and Christian institutions, including the schools and their technical training.

Mr A. E. Day, headmaster, introduced the speaker on each occasion, and acclamation at each school evidenced the listeners’ appreciation, which at the High School was voiced, not only by the staff, but also, in a neat speech by one of the prefects, Barry Catton.
