Mr W. Marshall, of Paeroa, spoke from IZB on Sunday night in support of the Third Liberty Loan. Sergeant K. C. Niblock spent the week-end with his wife and family in Paeroa.
Privates J. J. Elliott and G. Johnson, both of Paeroa, are among the personnel of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force who have recently returned to New Zealand.'
Aircraftsman N. D. Bishop, who has been spending his furlough with his parents at Komata North has returned to his training station in the South Island.
Word has been received from the Middle East that Lance-Corporal G. V. Hicks, who was wounded in March last, was flown 200 d miles to hospital in Egypt. His injuries were a broken leg and a broken finger. Advice dated May said he was making satisfactory progress. Lance-Cor poral Hicks is a son of Mr and Mrs H. H. Hicks of Turua.
Mr W. B. McDonald, of Thames, has received word from his son, L. E. McDonald (formerly of Paeroa), who is a prisoner of war at Stalag VIIIB, Germany, that he is fit and well, and wishes to thank the Paeroa and Thames Patriotic Committees for having sent him so many welcome parcels, all of which he has received.
