BLACKBERRY on plains ■SETTLERS TO BE WARNED \ TURUA AND NETHERTON Due to the very dry season quite a lot of blackberry on the Hauraki Plains has been dealt with by burning, reported the Noxious Weeds Inspector, Mr W. W. Williams, to Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. The report added: — “I have inspected farms in the Awaiti area chiefly in respect to ragwort and blackberry.” Mr A. H. Sutton drew the inspector’s attention to the great increase of blackberry in the Turua district. Mr C. W. Schultz said the growth

Cheale referred to blacKberry growing in his district. The inspector was instructed to serve notices on property owners who had blackberry on their farms. In answer’ to Mr Sutton the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, explained that property owners were responsible for the road to the centre of it irrespective of any drain or not. ’
