Slight Improvement Slight improvement is reported in the condition of Mi* Arthur Brocket, of Hikutaia, who was injured last Sunday when a gun accidentally discharged. Plains County Meeting The monthly meeting of the Hau- j ®raki Plains County Council was held 1 at Ngatea on Wednesday, the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt presiding. Others present were Messrs J. F. Mayn, D. G. McMillan, W. H. Cheale, C. W. Schultz, F. Pinchess, A H. Sutton, J. W. Neate, the clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, and the engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke. Leave of absence was granted Mr W. E. Hale. Bombs On Mission Daifiage to the extent of approximately £40,000,, it was stated at a Methodist missionary meeting in Paeroa, has been done to the properties and institutions of the Methodist Solomon Islands. -Mission, by bombs dropped" on various stations in the course of the Japanese occupation of the islands. The New Zealand Methodist Church has approved an appeal this year for £25,000 towards the cost of rehabilitation of the work of the mission. Several missionaries have lost all their personal poaseamoca through the bombing of their stations.
