£20 RAISED
SUCCESSFUL PATRIOTIC DANCE FUNCTION IN COROMANDEL The initial effort of the newlyelected Coromandel Patriotic Subcommittee was pronounced a great success, when, as a result of the dance organised in St. George’s Hall on Saturday night the sum of £2O was raised for the Patriotic Fund. A very good attendance was registered in spite of the showery weather and counter attraction. Voluntary music was supplied by Mrs E. M. Lucas (piano), Mr V. Powley (violin) and Lee Perfect (drums). An extra fox trot was played by Mr Ruthe and was very much appreciated.
Miss June Notman acted as M.C., assisted by Mr Ivan McCall. Supper was served in buffet fashion, everyone helping themselves. The excellent coffee was very much enjoyed by the dancers, and everyone did justice to the tasty sandwiches provided. The winners of the competitions were as follows: Free trip to town per M.V. Maretana, Mr H. W. McKenzie; half-sack of oysters, Mr Arthur Hamilton; quarter sack of oysters, Miss Dorothy Inglis; quar-ter-sack of oysters, Mr Herman Quist. Dancing continued till midnignt when the National Anthem brought the evening to a close.
