TRIBUTE TO SOLDIERS
PAID SUPREME SACRIFICE LOSS SUFFERED BY PAEROA Reference to the loss suffered by Paeroa in the deaths of Privates R. Lamb, H. Rush, M. Wirihana and H. Dowdell and Sergeant A. Cridge, now reported missing believed killed, was made by the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee, the meeting standing in silence as a mark of respect.
These men, said the Mayor, had been called upon to pay the supreme sacrifice in service to the Empire and to the relatives he extended the district’s very deepest sympathy. All the men had been well known in iPaeroa and their actions had gained them the admiration of all. The secretary was instructed to write to the relatives expresing the committee’s sympathy with them in their loss.
