WORK FOR VICTORY SESSION MR S. G. HOLLAND’S LIFE A joke at the expense of the work for victory campaign being broadcast over New Zealand radio stations was enjoyed by the audience which listened t-o the Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, at Te Awamutu recently.

Mr Holland referred to a recent studio broadcast describing work in a suppositious chocolate factory. One of the “operatives” was being questioned at the microphone regarding her duties, and the information was elicited that she was happy in her work because she jvas making chocolate for soldiers, producing an article of high food value, and also maintaining her two children. At the conclusion the interviewer said: “Thank you very much, Miss .” (Laughter). Speaking of the uncertainties of public life, Mr Holland told of having been introduced at a recent meeting as the “father of five children.”

“As I bnly have four children, it shows the uncertainties of public life,” Mr Holland remarked, informing the audience he was happily married, slightly oh the right side of 50. .and his life was an open book.
