PATRIOTIC CONCERT
AN ENJOYABLE EVENING SOLDIERS’ PARCEL FUND AIDED One of the most talented concert parties ever to visit Waitakaruru entertained a large crowd in the local hall one evening early last week. The function was run under the auspices of the Mangatangi concert party in aid of patriotic funds. Following were the items: “Red, White and Blue,” chorus; Miss Olwyn Thomas, solos; Miss A. Bray, tap-dancing; Mrs R. Crawford, solos; Mr T. Scott, solos; Miss Glen Chipman, solos; Misses E. McCormick and O. Thomas, humour; Mr Sy version, impersonations; Miss Syversion, saxophone solo.
During the evening £l4 9s was raised for the 'Soldiers’ Parcel Fund and Mrs Pacey thanked Mr Syverston and his troupe for their help. A dance followed the concert, Mrs Harrison’s orchestra providing the music.
Later in the evening Mrs Pacey presented Mrs Donaldson with a handsome jug vase, in appreciation of her services as organiser of th sales’ teas during the past four yeais.
