METAL WANTED ON ROAD decision of county council A petition from a number of Patetonga settlers for the metallmg of Tramline road was discusse a nesday’s meeting of the .Hauraki Plains County Council. The petition read ! as under: “We the undersigned ratepayers on the tramline respectfully request that the clayed portion of this road oe metalldd so as to give us access to oui properties during the winter mon , signed Messrs A. F. Sawyer L. L. Sawyer, K. A. Sawyer, W. Wilson, C. S. Appleby, S. D. Howie, J Paterson, H. N. Taylor, B. A.
S, The clerk said that the cost of the metalling would' be approx, mate.y mooo. ' „ Mr J. F. Mayn pointed out that a two to one subsidy would be needed for the work, stating the road was entitled to this subsidy-. Other councillors contended that as most of the ratepayers used the nerties down this road as run-offs aim as they were not living on these pro perties there , were other roads which needed attention before it could . decided to apply to the Government for a free grant to metal the road. .
