APPEALS HEARD
ARMED FORCES BOARD SITTING HELD IN PAEROA DECISION GIVEN ON THURSDAY A sitting of the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board was held in the Courthouse, Paeroa, on Thursday, the deputy-chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, presiding. Associated with him were Messrs E. J. Wilton, J. J. Poland and the secretary, Mr A. Ripley. Captain P. Williamson represented the Army. The following appeals were adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and continue to serve in the Home Guard. The name of the appellant is given in parentheses: J. W. Barrett, farmhand of Paeroa (T. A. Barrett and self); L. Havill, dairy farmer of Paeroa (self); L. M. Corbett, farmer of Hikutaia (self); G. Devcich, .farmer of Hikutaia (M. A. Devcich), J. M. Avery, farmhand of Hikutaia (G. Avery); J. J. Corbett, farmer of Hikutaia (self); C. E. Hopping, farmhand of Hikutaia (C. A. Hopping); W. J. Maunder, farmer of Turua (self); C. S. The appeal against Home Guard service of V. C. Manuel, farmer of Tirohia, was adjourned sine die, appellant to join the E.P.S. The appeal of P. C. Martin, farmer of Paeroa (self) was adjourned sine die, reservist to join the Home Guard.
F. Lewis, farmer of Paeroa (self), appealed against Home Guard service. Appellant was transferred to the second division of the Home Guard. P. Corbett, of Hikutaia, appealed for his farmhand, J. J. Goonan. Adjourned sine die, reservist to continue to serve in the Home Guard and to be released for service when suitable married counle can be found.
The appeal of C. A. Hopping for his son, F. J. Hopping, was adjourned sine die, reservist to continue to serve in the Home Guard and to be released when suitable replacement can be found.
The appeal of J. R. Bennett, farmer of Kerepeehi, was adjourned sine die, reservist to serve in the medical section of the Home Guard.
The appeal of S. Smith, carrier of Hikutaia, against Home Guard service was adjourned sine die, reservist to continue to serve in the Transport Section of the E.P.S.
■ The appeals of C, A. 'Stembridge and Son's, carriers of Paeroa, for three drivers and a mechanic, B. R. Duncan, R. Hughes and M. W. Stembridge and K. C. Stembridge, were adjourned sine die, reservists to remain in their present occupation and continue to serve in the Transport Section of the E.P.S.
The appeal of P. H. Sutton, of Hikutaia for his farmhand, A. H. Sutton, was adjourned sine die, reservist "to be released when. suitable replacement found and suitable accommodation provided.
