NGATEA FAREWELL

MR & MRS FLA YELL HONOURED 19 YEARS SPENT IN DISTRICT Between 40 and 50 1 friends gathered at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. Laurence, Ngatea, on Monday night; to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs E. Flavell, who, having sold their farm, are leaving the district after 19 years’ residence. Although the general feeling was one of regret at losing both the guests of honour, a very pleasant evening was spent together. Cards and competitions with some community singing comprised the programme, winners of the competitions being Mrs Stimpson (two)' and Mrs Spence. In making the presentation of a cheque, Mr Laurence spoke regretting the departure of Mr and Mrs Flavell from Ngatea. He wished them much happiness and success throughout their future years. Mr Flavell suitably responded, adding that both he and Mrs Flavell were indeed sorry to be leaving such a wide circle of friends. A delicious supper was served. Arrangements for the function were in the capable hands of Miss A. Paul and Mrs W. Laurence. Ladies present were: Mesdames W. Laurence, E. Flavell, F. Stimpson, B. Hodgson, W. Flint, C. W.
