OFF THE “PEAK”
USE OF ELECTRICITY AN APPEAL TO CONSUMERS THAMES VALLEY POWER BOARD An appeal to consumers to help the board and incidentally themselves, by reducing their load as much as possible during the “peak” periods and obtaining their necessary requirements before and after such periods was made -by the chairman, Mr J. Price, in his annual report to Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board. “ The report this year, like last year, is very brief, but it contains information upon tendencies which will require careful watching. “The increased demand, with a falling-off in the number of units sold ner k.w. of demand, are two points. The restriction in supply, and the consequent practical prohibition m the connection of new load, are other and associated points.
“ It is evident that the request to save units has been acted upon by many consumers. I extend thanks to them on your behalf. It helps tne general power supply scheme. It is necessary that the greatest economy in the use of power must still be exercised.
“On the other hand, our riiaximum demand has increased out of proportion to our sale of units. Consumers "could greatly help the board and incidentally themselves by reducing their loads as much as possible during the “peak” periods, and obtaining their necessary requirements before and after such periods.”
