REAL DEMOCRACY
CANDIDATE FOR HAURAKI MORRINSVILLE MEETING AN OUTLINE OF THE POLICY The appointment of Mr R. G. Young as Real Democracy Movement candidate for the Hauraki electorate was made at a meeting of the party held in Morrinsville recently. An outline of the policy and the platform of the Real Deihocracy Movement was given hy the North Island secretary of the Movement, Mr R. G. Young, in the Morrinsville Physical Culture Hall. There was a small attendance. Mr W. A. Rushton presided. Opening his address, Mr Young said the aim of the R.D.M. was to unite all those who were convinced that present-day troubles were due
to a faulty economic system. He said the R.D.M. was similar to the Douglas Credit System, but he emphasised that the Douglas Credit 'System had been adapted to New Zealand conditions. He said that Parliamentary candidates should have to undergo some form of economic examination before being elected to Parliament. The speaker criticised the present banking system and said the Government was able to transfer securities by the stroke of a pen, adding that under the present financial system stabilisation would not work. Emphasising that what was physically possible was financially possible, Mr Young said that under the R.D.M. the farmer would be able to work a 40-hour week.
In answer to a question Mr Young said there was no connection between the R.D.M. and Mr J. A. Lee’s party. On a motion that the platform outlined by Mi’ Young be endorsed by the meeting, seven votes were recorded for endorsement. There were four dissentients.
