NATIONAL PARTY

MEETING OF TURUA BRANCH OFFICERS ELECTED FOR YEAR A meeting .of the Turua branch of the National Party and supporters was held at Turua on Wednesday, May 19. Mr H. H. Hicks presidedand associated with him were Mr C, W. Parfitt and Mr A. 'G. Davis of the Hauraki executive. The chairman called for nominations. for the appointment of a new chairman, the only nomination received being- Mr Hicks, who was duly elected. • ■ Nominations were then called for the position of secretary. Mr J. E. Green was nominated but withdrew. Mr F. S. Kent was nominated and there being no further nominations the chairman declared Mr Kent duly elected secretary. Nominations were then called for members for the executive committee as follows: Mr R. Baker, Mr Jas. Newman, Miss O. Baker, Mr C. V. Marceau, Mr H. E. Glasgow, Mr A. J. Heasman, Mr C. K. Fox and Mr L. Boyd. # Mr H. H. Hicks moved and Mr Baker seconded that power be given to add to the committee. —Carried. Messrs Parfitt and Davis addressed the meeting fully on the work in the electorate, the appointment of an -organiser, etc., and* both answered questions on various points raised by those present. Mr Baker moved a very hearty vote-of thanks to Mr Parfitt and Mr Davis for coming to the meeting’ and a}so to those ladies who had attended,.—Carried by acclamation.
