LARGE CROWD

WAITAKARURU DANCE YOUNG PEOPLE’S CLUB VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENING The dance run under the auspices of the Waitakaruru Young People’s Club and held in the Waitakaruru Public Hall recently, was a great success. Although the floor was too crowded to enable comfortable dancing, everyone had a good time and went home tired but well satisfied. The fact that there was a large crowd present and that the dance was a success is proof of the ability of the young folk to organise such, a function just as . thoroughly and successfully as any adult committee. Proceeds .will be donated to patriotic funds. The New Collegians’ orchestra, of Thames, now in great demand at numerous country functions, supplied excellent dance music in both old-time and modern tempo. An extra was supplied by Miss J. Johnson, of Ngatea, and Corporal Ben Barkley, of the United States Army. Solos were given by Miss E. Haig and. Corporal Barkley.

The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs J. Moana. Mrs Bathehurst and Mr Duffin won the spot waltz.
