GOOD MORRINSVILLE DEMAND
DAIRY STOCK KEENLY SOUGHT
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report that at their weekly stock sale held at Morrinsville on Friday a medium yarding of all classes of sheep came forward, values in all sections being firm at recent quotations.
A medium entry of beef met a ready sale with values fully maintained. A full yarding of boner and store cows also sold freely with weighty cows in strong demand. t A medium yarding -of dairy cattle, including the advertised herd, came forward, and attracted a full bench of buyers. Competition for good quality young cows and heifers was keen, but poorer and aged sorts were not keenly sought. ■ A medium yarding of all classes of pigs was penned. Baconers and porkers remained firm at recent late rates while stores and weaners were ih demand, a ■ good sale resulting. Choppers also sold well.
They quote:— Sheep. —Heavy fat wethers, 28s to 295; light fat wethers, to 24s od; light fat ewes, Ils; fat lambs, 18s to 21s; medium store W.F. lambs, 10s to 12 s. Cattle.—Light fat steers, to £9 Us; heavy S.H. cows, £7 to £8; lighter, £5 15s to £6 10s; fat Jersey cows and heifers, £5 to £5 10s; heavy boner cows, £4 15s to £5 15s; medium, £3 10s to £4 10 s; store cows, £2 to £3; . bulls, £4 17s 6d to £7 2s 6d; good quality young Jersey cows, £9 10s to £lO ss; Jersey and Jersey-cross cows, £8 to £9; Jersey cows in milk, 'to £9 15s; poorer conditioned cows, £5 to £7; Jersey heifers (July calvers), £8 to '£9; later calvers, £6 to £7. Pig S . —Heavy choppers, £5 9s to £6 13s; others, £2 16s to £3 18s; prime heavy baconers, £4 10s to £4 15s; heavy baconers, £4 4s to £4 8s; medium, £3 14s to £4 2s; light, £3 6s to £3 12s; heavy porkers, £2 14s to £3 4s; medium, £2 8s to £2 12s; light, 38s to £2 4s; unfinished, 30s to 365; large stored, 22s 6d to 27s 6d; slips, 12s 6d to 20s 6d; weaners, 5s to 10s 6d; ■breeding sows, £3 17s 6d to £4 ss, Berkshire boars, to 21 gns.
