MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE

QUESTION OF NEW CLASSROOMS

The monthly meeting of the Paeroa .School Committee was held in the primary department on Monday night, the chairman, Mr C. C. Webb, presiding. Others present were Messrs W. Morrison, S. Oliver, R. L. Darley, F. Thorp, the secretary, Mr S. Wheeler, the treasurer, Mr J. Walmsley, and the headmaster, Mr A. E. Day. Leave of absence was granted Mrs S. Wheeler.

The chairman extended a welcome to Mr Oliver, who had been recen.ly appointed to the committee. The question of the erection of additional classrooms at the High School was again discussed and it was decided to write direct to the Minister of Education complaining ai the delay. The secretary was instructed to send the full file dealing with the matter to the Minister. The chairman and headmaster were appoln.ed a committee w-th power to act to view the gum trees which had been the subject of a complaint by Miss Rickard to the Paeroa Borough Council. under:— “The rolls are 443 and 99, the corresponding averages being 468 and 88. Miss Noble completed her service on the staff on May 7. “Inspectors Mills and LeWis visited the school on Wednesday last, their main purpose being to visit the pupil assis ants. “Recently I made an appeal for cuttings and seedlings for the secondary school grounds and I wish to acknowledge the generous response made by the parents.” ; The secretary was instructed te write to Miss Noble expressing the commit ee’s appreciation of the efficient service she had rendered to the school and to wish her continued success in her work.
