WEDDING BELLS

bithell—McDonnell BRIDE IN WHITE .SATIN FROCK A pretty wedding was solemnised in the Baptist Church, Mary street, on April 17, the contracting parties being Kathleen McDonnell, daughter of Mr and the late Mrs O. McDonnell, of Cochrane street, Thames, and Henry Bithell, son of Mrs F. V. and the late Mr H. Bithell, of Kopuarahi, late of Cheshire, England. Misses’ Desma McDonnell and Rita Law were the bridesmaids and Miss Audrey Burr was the flower girl. The best man was Mr R. Bithell, of Kopuarahi, and the groomsman was L.A.C. Douglas O. McDonnell. The officiating minister was the Rev. P. W. Norrish.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful white satin frock cut on classical lines and falling into a graceful train. The neckline, bodice and sleeves were daintily trimmed with roulette work. The veil was caught into a topknot of white chrysanthemums and a matching bouquet was carried. The bridesmaids were dressed in cyclamen sheer georgette frocks, cut on similar lines to that of the bride, with dahlia topknots and bouquets to match. The little flower girl was attractively dressed in a gown of green sheer georgette. A pink coronet and bouquet to match completed the effect.

During the signing of the register, Mrs Lohgmuir-Smith sang, “I’ll Walk Beside You.”

An aunt of the bride, Mrs C. Ketterer, of Piha, received the guests in a navy blue frock trimmed with white and carried a bouquet of golden chrysanthemums. ‘ The bridegroom’s mother wore a dark blue frock and carried a bouquet of red dahlias.

The bride travelled in a rust costume, with accessories to match.
