LIMIT BAGS
SHOOTING SEASON OPENS SPORT AT THE WEEK-END DUCKS PLENTIFUL IN AWAITI Birds were reported to be plentiful in most parts of the Thames Valley for the opening of the shooting season on Saturday and a number of limit bags were taken, especially in the Awaiti area.
Fine weather made conditions ( •particularly good for the . opening 1 and again on Sunday the weather held good.
Two sportsmen from Netherton who were out both Saturday and Sunday, stated that they secured limit bags each day without difficulty. A party from Paeroa who,shot in r the Waitakaruru district reported game not as plentiful as in the Awaiti and although they secured good bags' they did not secure the limit.
Two visitors from Paraparaunu who spent the week-end up Old Te Aroha road report that pheasant were very plentiful and similar reports regarding these birds have come in from most districts.
