DOGS DO WELL
NGATEA SPORTSMEN’S SUCCESS . HUNTLY GUN DOG TRIALS At the week-end a party of Ngatea sportsmen, comprising Messrs J. Darlington, F. Speedy, G. Tuke, M. Moderich and R. Phillips, made a visit to the Huntly live bird shoot on Mr Clinch’s property, the party taking four setters which had never taken part in trials before. The idea of going was to see how the trials are conducted, as in the near future Ngatea sportsmen intend to stage a gun dog trial with live birds, providing cartridges and birds are procurable. The Ngatea dogs acquitted themselves excellently, securing three first prizes and two third prizes. Results:—
Novice class (land). —R. Phillips’ “Girlie,” 1; M. Modrich’s “Nora,” 3.
Open water event.—M. Modrich’s “Nora,” 1; G. Tuke’s “Kruger,” 3. Open land event.—R. Phillip’s “Girlie,” 1.
