PAEROA LADIES’ COMMITTEE

STREET STALL NEXT MONTH

The April meeting of the Paeroa Ladies’ Patriotic Committee was held in the Coronation Chambers on Monday, April 19, the Mayoress, Mrs Edwin Edwards, presiding. Others present were Mesdames J. Bartlett, W. Barclay, H. Evans, G. Lamb, E. Turton, C. Bennett, J. Fielding, J. Silcock, M. Parry, G. Elvidge, A. Jenkinson, J. R. Kidd, G. Stewart, S. J. Hedge, F. McQuillan and the secretary, Mrs E. Hunt. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames .R. Buckrell, C. James, L.. Gibb, W. Hopping, W. Robson. On the motion of Mrs Edwards, seconded by Mrs Bennett it was agreed to send a letter of condolence to Mrs Brocklebank on the loss of her husband, Pte. W. W. Brocklebank, also to Mr and Mrs Mitchell on the loss of their son, Pte. G. Mitchell. The motion was carried, the meeting standing in silence.

The resignation of Miss G. Lamb was received with regret. After a little discussion it was agreed to hold a street stall in Paeroa on May 7, 1943,

The Mayoress thanked Mesdames Barclay and Fielding for their splendid organisation in raising £75 16s at the recent street stall run by the Paeroa Ladies’ Croquet Club. Mrs Edwards reported that to date 92 knitted articles had been handed in.
