ARBITRATOR APPOINTED KEREPEEHI-KOPUARAHI FUTURE BOUNDARY DRAINAGE At the April meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board members were engaged on the question of dealing with the drainage of the water in the Parry roadside drain to the Johnston drain. This has been the bone of contention between the two respective areas concerned for a considerable time.
After the different aspects of the position had been considered, Mr R. E. Tye moved and Mr D. G. McMillan seconded, that the central-south pay half the cost of cleaning and maintaining the drain from Parry’s corner to the Johnston drain. The motion was carried. Future Arrangements
In order to settle the question of what should happen when it was found necessary to divert water from one area through another, it was decided, on the motion of Messrs McMillan and C. W. Schultz, that the board appoint an arbitrator to decide what course the water should take and what amount in the arbitrator’s opinion each area should contribute. It was unanimously decided to ask Mr E. Taylor, Land Drainage engineer, who has an extensive knowledge of the drainage of the Plains, to act as arbitrator. K.K. Roadside Drain
One of the first matters that Mr Taylor will 'be asked to decide is the impasse that has arisen over the disposal of the water in the K.K. roadside drain between the crossroads at Parry’s corner and the Johnston drain. A further question for Mr Taylor was whether the boundaries of the areas should be altered.
