SEASON CLOSED
PAEROA LAWN TENNIS CLUB FUNCTION HELD SATURDAY The official closing of the 1942-43 ■season of the Paeroa Lawn Tennis Club was held on Saturday. After an excellent afternoon tea provided by the ladies, the president, Mr Gilbert Taylor, presented* the trophies won during the season. He congratulated the winners of the ‘ various events and the players on the high standard of play and the interest that they had taken in the tournament.
Mr Taylor referred to the prospects for tennis next season, stating that it mainly rested on the availability of balls. He hoped that the New Zealand Tennis Association would be able to procure enough balls to keep the gamq going and the various clubs alive for the benefit of the health and the recreation of those who can still take part for the time when hostilities, endetl and those who are engaged on military duties can return to civil live.
After thanking the members for their co-operation and the assistance they had given he declared the courts closed for the season 1942-43.
