OBITUARY

MR W. D. L. McLEAN FORMER GOLDFIELDS RESIDENT The death has occurred of Mr William David Lindsay McLean, formerly well-known on the Thames and Ohinemuri goldfields. Mr McLean, who was the eldest son of the late Mr Charles McLean, former mine manager in the early days of Thames was in his 69th. year.

As an engineer he was connected with some of the larger pumping and winding projects on the goldfields, particularly that at the Talisman mine.

Towards the end of last century Mr McLean represented Thames and Karangahake at Rugby football. -J
