COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE YOUTH TO PAY DAMAGES

Exhilarated after drinking beer, a boy, aged 16S '.years, put his fist through a window in a “fun parlour” in Christchurch, and adopted “a defiant and insolent attitude” when remonstrated with 'by the police. He was responsible for damage to the extent of £lO 15s. ,

This was disclosed at a sitting of the Children’s Court. The- case was adjourned till August 13. Meanwhile, he is to pay part of his weekly wage in settlement of the damages bill. “If your father cannot control you we shall have to do so,” said the magistrate. “We shall see what the position is in six months’ time.”
