Meeting Day Changed At the March meeting of the Coromandel County Council it was decided that in future the council meet on the second Wednesday of each month instead of the third Wednesday as at present. Black-out Trial
Soon after 9 o’clock on Sunday night March 21, the air-raid warning signals were heard in Coromandel. Officers of the E.P.S. Organisations were soon at their posts and the test has since been described by a leading citizen as most successful.
“Where’s That Councillor” At the March meeting of the Coromandel County Council Cr. T. V. Whittle asked the county clerk if his council correspondence might be addressed to him as Private T. V. Whittle instead of Cr. Whittle. He said he was becoming known in camp as “Councillor” and whenever roads and bridges became the topic of conversation it was a case of “Where’s That Councillor.” ■
Maintenance of Road and Bridges At the March meeting of the Coromandel County Council formal notice was received from the Public Works Department of the handing over for maintenance by the council of the completed works as follows: Topp’s road, Hodge’s road, Hamilton’s deviation, Kennedy’s Bay bridge and Tuateawa road bridge.
