COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
MISS D. SANDERS HONOURED EVENING AT NETHERTON A most enjoyable evening was spent last Thursday in the Netherton Hall to celebrate the coming-of-age of Miss Dorothy Sanders. Mi’s A. Laurent, Miss M. Sarjant and Miss T. Pennel) supplied music for dancing, while Mr R. Morrison played an extra on his piano-accord-eon.
Mr Pennell proposed the toast of the guest of the evening and musical honours were then accorded. The lights were then extinguished while the candles were lit. ' This made a very effective display in the darkness. Mr Pennell then asked Dorrie to cut the cake, after which she thanked all for their attendance and for the many lovely presents. Mr C. McNeil proposed the toast of Mr and Mrs Sanders and of absent friends.
Miss K. -Sanders obliged with a song entitled “The Stranger of Galilee” and Miss D. Fisher sang “Oh (Promise Me” and “When I Grow Too Old to Dream.” Monte Carlo waltzes were won byMiss L. Johnson and Miss M. Skinner, Miss K. Sanders and G. Potter and Miss J. Coldicutt and Mr F. Hopping. A spot waltz was won by Mr and Mrs A. S. Fisher. A children’s Monte Carlo waltz which caused some amusement was won by Joan Bourne and A. Skinner. Much merriment was caused by the men’s spot waltz which was won by Mr B. McNeil and Mr N. Monradu
