ANOTHER PROTEST

REHABILITATION IN VALLEY DISCUSSION IN TE AROHA “I think it is absolutely a'gainst all the laws and principles of democracy and I think we should protest strongly about it,” declared the Mayor of Te Aroha, Mr L. C. Mackie, at the March meeting of the Te Aroha Borough Council when a discussion took place upon the fact that in the matter of the rehabilitation of returned servicemen the board had been set up at Thames and was entirely composed of residents of that town. His Worship held that such a board, located as far away as Thames, could have no chance of efficiently and equitably handling the affairs of men in Te Aroha and the Piako County. Cr. W. A. Clark said that there had been no provision for representation of farming interests and added that although it was stated that committees should be appointed in other centres, protests were going out from aH'parts of the Thames Valley. His Worship: I think we are within our rights to protest from a patriotic point of view.

After some further discussion His Worship moved and Cr. H. Carwardine seconded that a protest be forwarded to Mr M. Moohan, chairman of the National Rehabilitation Board and ihat a copy be forwarded .to Mr J. Thorn, M.P. The motion wag carried.
