An agitation is being made to request the Governor-General to declare the 'public reserve on Hetherington’s Estate, near Thornton’s Bay, on the Thames Coast, a public domain. For this purpose, Mr J. W. Neate has convened a meeting of section-holders on the estate and residents of the Bay for Saturday week. Short Route To Tauranga
At the March meeting of the Te Aroha Borough Council a letter was received from the Te Aroha Chamber of Commerce regarding the possibilities of a short route to Tauranga which had been suggested by Mr W. J. Gibbs, engineer. It was agreed that if successfully constructed the short route would be beneficial to the district, but it was thought that it was out of the borough’s range to take any action. The prime mover would have to be the Piako County.
