TURUA PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED
The annual meeting • of the Turua Patriotic Commitee was held at Turua on Wednesday night, Mr H. H. Hicks presiding over an attendance of some 30 local residents. It was reported that the local quota of £4OO for the 1942 All Purposes Appeal last year was fully subscribed. During the year 39 unaddressed parcels were packed, and in addition 30 personal parcels sent forward to local men serving* overseas. Thai, thees parcels were appreciated was proved by letters of appreciation received front soldiers, who stated that the contents had been wisely selected and the parcels had been in excellent condition when opened. Plans were laid for the collection of the district quota of £396 for the present year, and the election of the executive committee resulted as follows:—Chairman, Mr H. H. Hicks; executive, Mesdames C. K. Fox, C. V. Marceau, P. J. Murphy, Messrs C. K. Fox, C. V. Marceau, J. C. Miller, jnr., P. J. Murphy, J. A. Scott, A. H. Sutton; secretary, Mr F. S. R. Kent.
