NETHERTON LODGE
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING HELD
INTERESTING DEBATE STAGED
The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Netherton Lodge was held in Netherton Hall on Tuesday night, N.G. Sister M. Sarjant presiding over a fair attendance of members.
Three candidates were intitiated into the Order and the routine business transacted.
Letters were received from Bro. R. H. Fraser and Bro. J. W. Cheale, serving in the Middle East, thanking the Lodge for Christmas parcels and expressing appreciation. The secretary intimated that all members serving overseas had received parcels safely. The N.'G. declared harmony and the debate, “Steam Power y. Motor Power,” was proceeded with. P.G Bro. Stembridge and P.G. Bro. Heappey acted as judges. This proved a very interesting debate, both teams being well versed in their subjects, the judges declaring steam power the winners. The teams were: Motor power, Bro. Ryan, Sister V. E. Turner, Sister M. Sarjant, Bro. Paul; steam power, Bro. V. E. Turner, Bro. R. Locke, Sister Laurent, Sister M. Heappey; leaders, Bro. Ryan and Bro. V. E. Turner.
Following the reading of the War Ritual, Lodge then closed in peace and harmony after which supper was served by the sisters of the Lodge and a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close.
