MATCHES ON THE PLAINS. TURUA WINS CUPS. The final matches of the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association’s inter-club competitions were set down to be played on Saturday, but owing to the weather being so good following the week of wet weather many players were engaged in hay-making, with the result that several matches were postponed, by mutual arrangement. For the same reason many teams were much below normal strength. Turua again won both its matches, and thus won both the “A” and the “B” competitions for the season. Details are as follows :— TURUA V. KEREPEEHI. “A” Grade. Men’s Singles.—F. C. Robinson beat A. J. Hutchison, 99 —7 ;T. Miller beat N. Clay, 9—2 ;A. McConnell beat G. Crisp, 9—55 ; H. Griffiths beat C. Murray, 9—2. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss A. Dixon beat Mrs Clay, 7—o ; Miss I. Griffiths lost to Miss Rogers, 5—7. Combined Doubles. —Mrs Scott and C. Scott beat Mrs Adlum and G. Boswell, 7—4 ; Miss Green and F. Bell beat Mrs Kidd and R. E. Wentworth, 7—o. Men’s Doubles. —Robinson and Miller beat Hutchison and Clay, 9—B ; McConnell and Griffiths beat Crisp and Murray, 9 —5 ; Scott and Bell beat Boswell and Wentworth, 9—B. Ladies’ Doubles. —Misses Dixon and Griffiths beat Mrs Clay and Miss Rogers, 7—3 ; Mrs Scott and Miss Green Beat Mesdames Adlum and Kidd, 7—2. Totals : Turua, 12 sets (103 games); Kerepeehi, 1 set (53 games). “B” grade. Men’s Singles.—F. Griffiths beat P. Innis, 9 —o ;A. Elvin beat B. Thompson, 9—6 ; R. Jupp beat R. Carr, 9—4; A. Stanley beat W. Kidd, 9—2. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss L. Aberhart lost to Miss E. Hegh, 3—7 ; Miss M. Mules lost to Miss C. Hegh, I—7. Combined Doubles.—Mrs Cosson and N. Nicholson lost to Miss Hislop and T. Carr, 4—7<; Miss A. Green and C. Hamilton beat Miss Douslin and E. Stansill, 7—l. Men’s Doubles.—Griffiths and Elvin beat Innis and Thompson, 9—o ; Jupp and Stanley beat Carr and Kidd, 9 —o; Nicholson and Hamilton lost to T. Carr and Stansill, 2—9. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses Aberhart and Mules beat Misses C. and E. Hegh, 7 —5 ; Mrs Cosson and Miss Green beat Misses Hislop and Douslin, 7 —4.
