VETERINARY CLUB.
HAURAKI PLAINS BODY. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Hauraki Plains Farmers’ Veterinary Club was held at Ngatea last evening, Mr C. W. Schultz presiding over Messrs W. Andrews, W. -Clark, W. Jones, C. Vagg, R. Burke, and C. Gibson (secretary). New Members. Two new members were enrolled. Surgeon’s Report. The veterinary surgeon, Mr T. A. Aris, reported that during November he had made 120 visits to the stock of 59 members. The most prevalent cases were milk fever, calving, paralysis, foaling, and hard quarters. A Peculiar Complaint. In reply to a question by the chairman as to whether any member had any complaints concerning the service pendered by the club, a member of the committee said that one farmer had complained very bitterly that the present surgeon did not talk about his cases, so the farmer did not learn for himself how to treat his stock and thus save future visits. This was the only complaint voiced. Inquiry by Government. The secretary mentioned that Mr R. Denize, stock inspector, Thames, had called upon him, on instructions from the Director-General of the Live Stock Divisjon, Wellington, and obtained particulars of the organisation and rules of the club. Mr Denize did not know why this information was reFinance. The secretary reported that the credit balance in the bank was only £l6. Members urged that special efforts be made to get in the money owing by members. The secretary was instruced accordingly.
