SWIMMING SPORTS.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. " FINAL ARRANGEMENTS MADE. A meeting of the committee of the Paeroa Swimming Club was held last night, when final arrangements were made for the coming swimming gala on Monday next. The secretary reported that already he had received a good number of entries for the various events, and also some of the best swimmers in the province had accepted the invitation to swim against the Australians in the 100yds and 220yds handicaps. The programme for club nights for December was submitted by the club captain, Mr D. Fraser, and approved. It provides for general swimming on the 6th and 11th, and on the 13th there will be instructional classes, general swimming, and water-polo. On the 18th the first of the club competitions for the club trophies will be held, the distance being : 33 l-3yds for girls 14 and under ; boys 14 and under ; girls under 17 ; boys under 17 ; ladies ; and men. Entries for the club events close on December 17. On December 20 there will be instructional classes, general swimming, and water-polo. It was resolved to ask His Worship the Mayor, Mr W. Marshall, to give a welcome to the Australian swimmers and open the gala.
