HIKUTAIA A V. TE AROHA. The Hikutaia A Grade tennis team was defeated by the Te Aroha team at Hikutaia on Saturday afternoon by nine sets to four. The following is the order of the play, Hikutaia players being mentioned first:— Men’s Singles.—E. Turner lost to E. Wright 5—9, W. Alley lost to A. Candy 3—9, R. Rare beat L. Mackay 9—2, H, McGarvey lost to R. Barriball 3—9. Ladies’ Singles.—Miss G. Gibb beat Miss V. Sharp 7—3, Miss R. Alley lost to Mrs Wallace 4—7. Men’s Doubles. —Turner and Rare lost to Wright and Mackay 6—9, Alley and McGarvey lost to Candy and Barriball B—9, Elliot and Tohu beat Donovan and Johnson 9 —B. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses 'G. Gibb and Miss M. Elliot lost to Miss Sharp and Mrs Wallace 6—7, Miss Alley and Miss V. Brown beat Mrs Dolton and V. Brown lost to Donovan and Miss Miss Biggs 7—6. Combined Doubles. —Tohu and Miss Biggs 5—7, Elliot 'and Miss M. Elliot lost to Johnson and Miss Dolton I—7.
