HYPNOTISED !

WAIHI RESIDENTS’ EXPERIENCE A PECULIAR TREATISE. The astounding story of the Waihi resident and his wife who were found wandering aimlessly on the platform of the Auckland railway station last Friday week, and who subsequently stated that they had been hypnotised by a certain man who had been ing the town, has caused somewhat of a sensation throughout the Waihi district and further afield (says the IVaihi Telegraph). After giving an account of what happened to the couple at Waihi while under the alleged influence of a mysterious Mister X, the Telegraph goes on to quote from a remarkable “celestial survey of New Zealand” advanced by this peculiar person as “an occult contribution to the interior science of the new age.” The Telegraph, with its trite remarks, is best given in full, as hereunder :—

“In the preface appears the amazing statement that the ‘survey’ is ‘a faithful transmission from the eye of the Angel to that of the reader ; that it required the co-operation of a Recorder, a Seer, and an Adept, the latter coming from another orb—Venus.’ It would appear that the Adept had some difficulty in finding the position of the Earth Orb and prefers the request that he be known as ‘The Whispering One.’ ‘Whispering Smith of the six-gun Western story evidently has nothing on this whisperer from Venus.

“Here arc a few of the examples summarised :—

“Waihi. "Why not she ? She has got herself to thank for that. She is a lady parading in man’s attire. Waihi is feminine in quality—a love atom. Yet, for convenience, she has been persuaded to appear as masculine. Waihi in its first years as a gold town was composed almost solely of men—a false inverted state. A lone-stream of life has here been running to waste. Masculine Waihi created an umbrella state, a shell-back degree, a covering that diverted the stream which might have flpwed into its outer life. Spiritual Waihi is now misshapen and unbeautiful. Underneath the town is Light, not phosphoric but metallic. There is a fine force emanating from beneath, which has caused this lower force to set a hard covering over the town, debarring the higher from descending. The only help now is for a dropped bomb to break that spell and allow Waihi to restart and rebuild in Love. The Bomb Mystery. “Now, perhps, we know where the bomb found on Martha Hill the other day by Mr Richard Hunt, as reported in Saturday’s ‘Telegraph’ came from. Some persdli amongst us may be in league with the ‘Whisperer from Venus’. Here is a mystery for the R.R. to unravel

“Sooner or later,” proceeds the survey, ‘must arise Waihi, the beautiful’ Let it be soon. “Thames is described as ‘the walled city.’ It is ‘dilatory, don’t-careish, and not to be bustled.’ Hamilton ‘is spiritually not dead, but having a snooze’ Well, she has been very much awake in spiritual matters lately at any rate. “ Auckland gets it in the neck ! ‘What angel,’ asks the Whispering One, ‘ would settle in Auckland and take possession of it ?” ’ Evidently the Queen City is a naughty one, for Sodom and Gomorlah, ‘the ancient story cities,’ are (mentioned in the same breath as it were.

“The Seer must have had a good reception in Hastings, for he describes it as ‘the city of Seers, or the Man with the Vision.’ On the other hand, when the Seer arrived in Woodville he. must have been shown the ‘gate,’ hence the title, ‘Poor, poverty-stricken Woodville.’ She suffered from /congested respiratory organs and' lung trouble’ ! Who would live in Woodville ! Who, indeed.

“Tauranga wins the biscuit. ‘How nice. A land of spices, of sweetsmelling things, nurtured and developed. Theii- fragrance and aroma are very strong—almost heady .’ Shame on the visitor from Venus. He must have wandered into a pub. Finally the Seer invites Tauranga to ‘come forth and shine in the noonday sun.’ “The Seer evidently omitted to visit Paeroa. Perhaps the battle of Primrose Hill was too much for him, but a survey of the above lines would no doubt prove very interesting. “These excerpts will suffice to indicate in some small measure the mentality and doctrines of Mr X.”
