PERSONAL.

Mr T. E. McMillan, formerly editor of the Matamata Record, who has been seriously indisposed since resigning his position, entered the Waikato Hospital last week, on the advice of his doctor, to undergo a thorough X-ray examination. Mr McMillan resided in Paeroa about eight years ago, he being editor of this paper for some years.

A distinguished visitor to Te Aroha last week was Sir William Noble, a director of the British General Electric, Company. Sir William began his career as a telegraphist, and was knighted at the close of 43 years in the British Postal Department, in which he rose to the position of en-gineer-in-chief. On Thursday he was motored from Hamilton by Mr R. Sprague, manager for the Thames Valley Power Board, later receiving the hospitality of Mr F. M. Strange, chairman of the board. He left on Friday morning for Arapuni, accompanied by Mr W. R. Caithness and Mr F. Taylor, Australian and New Zealand heads of the British General Electric Company. After being shown over, Arapuni works by Mr N. E. Rabone, the party motored to Rotorua, where Sir William expressed his gratitude for the courtesies shown -by Messrs Strange, Sprague, and McLeod during his visit to the Thames Valley.
