PLAY ON LOCAL GREEN.
BRENAN SHIELD COMPETITION. The Brenan Shield competition at the Paeroa bowling green is in full swing. Last Saturday two games were played which resulted as follows : — Hutchinson, Innes, Morland, Silcock (skip) 24, v Vowles, W. Smith, D. Chamberlain, W. Taylor (skip) 23 ; Dittmer, Bowmar, Brocket, C. Mettam (skip) 21, v. Mclntyre, Forrest, C. Holes, L. Gibb 20. Yesterday, before quite a large gathering of interested spectators, Pye, Lowden, Holes, Brocket 23, beat Doolan, Weadon, Carter, Williams (skip) 10. To-morrow the competition will be continued, the names of the members to be picked up on the ground. Play will commence at 2 p.m. HOWDEN SHIELD. Entries close to-mon-ow night for the Howderi Shield match against Te Aroha at Te Aroha on November 30. FRASER STARS. On Saturday last Te Aroha defended the Fraser Stays against Paeroa. The game was exceedingly interesting, and resulted in a draw. Te Aroha remain the holders of these trophies, for which further challenges’will be played later.
