BUSINESS MEN’S VISIT.

PARTY FROM AUCKLAND. CROSSING PLAINS TO-MORROW. The Auckland Chamber of Commerce train is due at Pokeno early tomorrow morning. The party will leave the train there and journey by motor-cai’ along the the proposed Paeroa-Pokeno railway for the purpose of making a thorough inspection of a surveyed line, the completion of which the Auckland Chamber strongly, favours. They will be accompanied across the Plains by membrs of local bodies interested. On arrival at Paeroa the party will bo welcomed by representatives of the Ohinemuri County Council, Hauraki Plains County Council, Paeroa Borough Council, and Paeroa Chamber of Commerce. After luncheon the visitors will be entertained at 1 p.m. in the Gaiety Theatre, when speeches appropriate to the occasion will be delivered. Among the visitors who, will number about 60, will be the British, American, and Canadian Trade Commissioners, Messrs L. A. Paish, Julian B. Foster, and C. M. Croft, respectively ; and Messrs O. J. Thedens, Government representative, combined Chambers of Commerce in Austria ; H. T. Merritt, M. Stewart, and E. P. Neale, president, vice-president, and secretary, respectively, Auckland Chamber of Commerce ; F. W. Furkert, engineer-in-chief, Public Works Department; H. H. Sterling, general manager, N.Z. Railways ; D. Rodie, commercial manager, A. W. Wellsted, business agent, G. C. Stewart, publicity manager, N.Z. Railways; J. W. Collins, secretary, Department Industries and Commerce ; J. Mclnnes, district engineer, Public Works Department; A. Spencer, president Auckland Provincial Employers’ Association ; H. C. Ernest, president Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce ; and W. Lock, Nelson Chamber of Commerce.
