RIFLE SHOOTING.
PAEROA DEFENCE CLUB. SATURDAY’S PRACTICE. On the local rifle range on Saturday, before a good attendance of members, the Pael-oa Defence Rifle Club held another practice shoot. The ranges used were 300yds and 600yds. Although the weathei’ conditions were good there was a tricky wind. President F. C. Hubbard topped the score for the afternoon with- a total of 60, obtaining 30 points at each ran'ge. Rfm. W. A. Reid gained second place over Cadet A. Simmonds by obtaining the best score at the longer range. Following are the details :■ — Rresident F. C. Hubbard, 30 at 300 yards, 30 at 600 yards, total 60 ; Rfm. W. A. Reid, 28, 31—59 ; Cadet A. Simmonds, 29, 30—59 ; Rfm. P. R. Hubbard, 28, 29—57 ; Rfm. R. I. Wells, 29, 28—57 ; Rfm. A. Jenkinson, 29, 27— 56 ; Rfm. R. I. Roberts, 29, 26 —55 ; Capt. H. Simmonds, 30, 25—55 ; Rfm. H. A. Morrison, 26, 27 —53 ; Rfm. E. Turton, 29, 24—53 ; Rfm, R. W. Roberts, 23, 28—51 ; Rfm, D. Currie, 27, 22—49Rfm. L. Morris, 23, 19—42. Next Saturday a final practice match will, be held before starting on the club competitions. Shooting will be from 800yds and 900yds ranges.

Averages for Season 1929.
In order that the members of the Paeroa Defence Miniature Rifle Club may see how they have shot throughout the season just ended, the following are the averages, etc., of all the members who have competed in the ■ various handicap competitions. These figures do not include the scores obtained during the first five nights, during which only practice shooting was indulged in. It will be seen that Capt. H. Simmonds heads the list with a fine ’ average of 99.5, dropping only four points in a total of 900 for the nine shoots he attended. President F. C.
